A new garage door is one of the highest-return upgrades you can make to a home — it's a big part of your curb appeal and one of the most-used moving parts you own. We help Ottawa homeowners pick a door that fits the house, the climate, and the budget, then install it cleanly and back the workmanship for a full year.
Door styles we install
We install the styles that look right on Ottawa homes — from classic raised-panel to modern flush. All of the styles below come in single-car (8' or 9' wide) or double-car (16' wide) sizes, in insulated steel, and in a full range of colours.
Carriage house / coach style
Visually styled to look like swing-open carriage doors of a hundred years ago, but with the convenience of a sectional door. Often paired with decorative hardware and small top-row windows. Looks right on stone, brick, and traditional homes.
Modern flush
Clean horizontal lines, minimal grooves, no raised panels. Looks contemporary on new builds and modern infills. Pairs well with tinted top-row windows for a sleek finish.
Raised-panel classic
The most common residential style — square or rectangular raised panels, easy to match to existing doors. Available in single-long-panel for a flatter look or short-panel for a more traditional finish.
Woodgrain / faux-wood
Steel doors with a textured woodgrain finish that mimics real walnut, oak, or cherry without the maintenance. A popular choice for stone and brick homes that want warmth without the cost or upkeep of a real cedar door.
What's included with every Liftime install
- Pre-install measure visit + a written quote in your hands
- Removal of your old door, tracks, and hardware
- Haul-away and recycling of the old door — your driveway is clean when we leave
- New door, new torsion springs sized to the door's weight, new lift cables
- New galvanized tracks and hardware
- Weather stripping (bottom seal + side seals)
- Door balanced, tensioned, and cycle-tested
- Walk-through with you so you understand the controls
- 1-year workmanship warranty + the manufacturer's door warranty
If the existing frame, tracks, or hinges show wear during the pre-install measure, we'll flag them for garage door repair before the new door goes on — mounting fresh hardware on rotted or warped framing wastes the new door's lifespan.
A real install day (August 2024, triple-bay Ottawa home)
Here's what a typical install actually looks like — a triple-bay garage in Ottawa where the homeowner wanted three matching modern black doors. We removed the original 25-year-old doors, replaced all tracks and torsion hardware (including a complete spring installation sized to each new door's weight), hung the new doors panel by panel, and were finished by early evening of the same day.

Brands we work with
We install doors from the major North American manufacturers — including Garaga (Quebec, premium insulation), Steel-Craft, Richards-Wilcox, C.H.I., Clopay, Wayne Dalton, and Toho (Ontario manufacturer). We'll walk you through the trade-offs of each brand and what makes sense for your house.
Insulation — what matters in Ottawa
If your garage is attached to the house, insulation matters. A door's insulation is measured in R-value — the higher the number, the more it resists heat loss. For an attached Ottawa garage we typically recommend R-16 or better. For detached, R-12 is usually plenty. We'll talk through what makes sense given how you use the space.
Single, double, or triple car
We install everything from a 7' wide single down to a custom-width triple. The most common Ottawa sizes are 9'×7' single, 16'×7' double, and 8'×7' double-tandem. Heights from 6'6" to 8' are all standard — taller "high-lift" tracks are also available for shops and finished garages.
Lead times
Most stock doors and standard colours are typically in our warehouse within 1–2 weeks of order. Custom colours, oversized doors, and specialty windows may take longer — we'll give you a realistic timeline when you book.
